Raine & Horne celebrates 35 years of international presence since its launch in Malaysia

June 21, 2024

Raine & Horne marks 35 years since launching an office network in Malaysia, its first-ever expansion into international markets.

Established as Raine & Horne International Zaki + Partners Sdn Bhd on June 21, 1989, the firm, founded by Dato’ Zaki Haji Said, has evolved into a comprehensive property company. It offers diverse services, including property valuation, project management, property management, real estate sales, and corporate advisory.

Mr Angus Raine, Executive Chairman of Raine & Horne, stated, “Raine & Horne International Zaki + Partners Sdn Bhd ranks among the leading real estate brands in Malaysia. They are one of the few local companies with a proud 35-year history of uninterrupted operation in the country.

“From its foundation in 1989, Raine & Horne International Zaki + Partners Sdn Bhd has consistently earned a stellar reputation and achieved remarkable success. The firm is highly regarded locally and globally, and we take great pride in their impressive accomplishments.”

Currently, the firm employs 130 property specialists. It boasts eleven offices across Malaysia, located in key cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Kelang, Johor Bahru, Ipoh, Seremban, Kuantan, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching. As part of the 35th year celebrations, Raine & Horne International Zaki + Partners has relocated its oldest branch in Ipoh to a bigger office space at No. 16A Jalan Pusat Perniagaan Falim 6, Falim, 30200 Ipoh. The Ipoh branch was launched in 1983 before the firm joined the super brand and is now headed by its new resident manager, Sr Lee Sook Mei.

Reflecting on the journey since 1989, Sr. Ho Sek Chuen, Managing Director of Raine & Horne International Zaki + Partners Sdn Bhd, remarked, “Our firm was initially established in 1982 as a local property consultancy firm under the name Zaki + Partners Sdn Bhd.

“When we joined Raine & Horne, we rebranded as Raine & Horne International Zaki + Partners Sdn Bhd. This transition marked a new chapter for our firm, thanks to the visionary leadership of Dato’ Zaki Haji Said and the late Max Raine, the former Chairman of Raine & Horne.”

The benefit of the association with Raine & Horne

Malaysia’s association with Raine & Horne has been pivotal, and Raine & Horne International Zaki + Partners Sdn Bhd proudly serves as one of the super brand’s most esteemed international ambassadors.

“When we joined Raine & Horne, our firm quickly garnered attention in the real estate industry. We began receiving enquiries from various sectors, including government agencies, financial institutions, developers, and auditors. Most significantly, we introduced an international perspective to the local real estate market.”

Moreover, Sr. Ho Sek Chuen said the Raine & Horne brand is recognised widely by expats, Malaysian businesspeople, and students who have lived in Australia.

“This recognition instantly associates certain qualities and benefits unique to Raine & Horne in customers’ minds,” Sr. Ho Sek Chuen said.

“The strong Raine & Horne brand has significantly bolstered our firm’s sales and profits, and we do attract investors from Australasia. Customers perceive that we offer higher-quality services, trustworthiness, and a reliable reputation as we are associated with the super brand.

“We deeply appreciate the support provided by Raine & Horne, particularly from the Raine family, and we are always eager to engage in our group’s networking events.

“Our firm’s marketing style, such as our letterheads, name cards, and advertisements, are consistent with the Raine & Horne brand used in Australasia.”

Since its inception, Raine & Horne International Zaki + Partners Sdn Bhd has established itself as a prominent player in the Malaysian real estate landscape.

Sr. Ho Sek Chuen, who joined the firm in 1993, said, “Significant milestones have defined our journey. By 1995, we expanded into the eastern states and East Malaysia and were able to navigate the severe impact of the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis. During this challenging period, we actively contributed to the non-performing loan (NPL) recovery efforts by offering valuation and real estate agency services to Danaharta, a private limited company established by the Ministry of Finance.”

In 2002, the firm participated in the valuation of Malaysia Airlines’ Wide Asset Unbundling (WAU) restructuring and, in 2006, organised the Penang International Lifestyle Expo, launched by the Chief Minister of Penang, Koh Tsu Koon. The late Max Raine graced the event and delivered a rousing speech.

“We proudly celebrate 35 years of success, growth, and excellence. Other milestones include pioneering live telecast auctions in Malaysia and achieving ISO 9001 accreditation for Property, Plant & Machinery Valuation,” continued Sr. Ho Sek Chuen.

“Our Senior Partner in Penang, the late Michael Geh, was elected President of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) Malaysian Chapter, which was a major corporate milestone for the Raine & Horne brand in this country.”

Best wishes to Raine & Horne in New Zealand

Coincidentally, Raine & Horne International Zaki + Partners Sdn Bhd is celebrating 35 years just as the super brand’s rapidly expanding office network in New Zealand, which has reached 65 offices following the acquisition of the Mike Pero Real Estate Group, marks its first anniversary.

Sr. Ho Sek Chuen congratulated his New Zealand colleagues, noting that Raine & Horne is one of the fastest-growing networks in that nation. “Keep the Raine & Horne flag flying high, and no matter the competition, we have a brand over 141 years old.”
