Wynnum QLD (25 November 2022) The team at Raine & Horne Wynnum Manly are throwing their support behind the third annual performing arts hub, the Wynnum Fringe, to the tune of a generous $60,000.

The star-studded lineup of local, national, and international acts, including comedians Dave Hughes, Cal Wilson and Akmal, and Australian music icons Marcia Hines and Diesel, is taking place from now until December 4 across six venues. The festival runs for three weeks and includes 55 productions and 500 artists.

In 2020, the festival’s inaugural year, there were 200 artists and 10,000 attendees over three days. This rose to 400 artists and 25,000 attendees across seven days in 2021.

Margaret Vote, Director of Raine & Horne Wynnum Manly, said the world-class event was growing in popularity each year and was putting Wynnum on the map.

“These are spectacular acts we’ve got - all the way through from singers, musicians, dancers, acrobats, children’s magic shows and cultural performers, all the way to the big names that people might know from television,” she said.

Raine & Horne Wynnum is proudly sponsoring the Spiegeltent, which is a classic yet elaborate wooden mirrored tent that will host some of the festival’s most popular acts, including VELVET Rewired starring Marica Hines.

Proud supporters of the Wynnum community

Ms Vote said sponsoring the Wynnum Fringe was a great way for her office to give back to the community that has supported all local businesses and Raine & Horne Wynnum Manly.

“We’re just a small business, but I love music, and I want to bring joy as we’ve been through some tough times,” she explains. ‘So, this year, it is even more important to give more when times have been good in real estate.

“I want to bring a bit of the magic back into the lives of people who have been struggling. When things are tough, you bring on the entertainers, and that is where connection to the community happens.

“I love this – it’s amazing. It wasn’t even a question for me to sponsor it.”

The Wynnum Fringe is the brainchild of former The Voice contestant Tom Oliver who wanted to help all his music and arts friends whose careers had been wiped out completely. This is the actual reason for the festival and what inspired me,” said Ms Vote, who sold Mr Oliver’s parents their first home in the Wynnum area many years ago.

“When Tom told me his idea, I instantly told him I was in,” she says.

“The first and second years of the Wynnum Fringe were events, now it’s a community tradition.

“This event is even helping to put Wynnum on the map with buyers from down south, who previously looked at Manly first when considering a property in this region,” Ms Vote added.
