Raine & Horne Rural urges Aussies to recognise the vital contribution of our farmers this National Agriculture Day

November 13, 2024

As millions of Aussies took a moment this week to honour the brave sacrifices of our WWI forebears between 1914 – 1918 on Remembrance Day, we’re now zooming into 2024, where today’s unsung heroes—our farmers—are powering this fantastic country.

With Raine & Horne Rural’s vast network of offices spanning the heartland of rural and regional Australia, we’re also gearing up to celebrate and support these legends who help fuel our economy this National Agriculture Day[i], Friday, 15 November.

Agriculture is a massive part of Australia’s story: it covers 55% of our land (426 million hectares as of December 2023). It contributes 13.6% of our goods and services exports, according to the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES)[ii]. So, here’s to the farmers who fuel our economy and our future this National Agriculture Day.

Agriculture and rural real estate have also played a massive part in the Raine & Horne story, fuelling our enthusiasm for celebrating National Agriculture Day. Founded over 140 years ago, Raine & Horne has maintained a deep connection with rural Australia. Travis Wentriro, Network Manager Raine & Horne Rural, said, “All Australians benefit daily from the world-class food and fibre produced across rural and regional Australia, yet many of us know very little about the farmers and workers who put the food on our tables.

“National Agriculture Day offers a valuable chance to celebrate and learn more about Australia’s remarkable agricultural sector—an industry that plays a vital role in our lives every single day.”

In addition to supporting National Agriculture Day, Raine & Horne Rural is making a difference to rural and regional Australia through the Raine & Horne Foundation, the brand’s charitable arm. “Partnering with Rural Aid[iii], Australia’s most trusted rural charity, Raine & Horne Rural through the Raine & Horne Foundation is proud to back our agricultural communities, said Travis.

“This partnership aims to fortify the resilience and long-term sustainability of Australia’s agricultural sector, which often faces the severe impacts of our country’s challenging and extreme natural disasters, ranging from devastating cyclones and destructive floods to tragic bushfires.”

Rural origins and dedication to supporting today’s farmers

Raine & Horne’s rural origins trace back to managing the estates of some of NSW early agricultural pioneers on what were then the rural fringes of Sydney when it launched in 1883.

Today, Raine & Horne Rural has a vast network of rural and regional offices across Australia that support farmers, corporate agribusiness stakeholders, and investors. Raine & Horne Rural has a significant presence in major regional hubs throughout New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, and Western Australia, making it well-positioned to cater to rural property needs.

“We currently have an array of unique rural investment opportunities, ranging from Blackwattle Farm at 175 Racecourse Road, Frankland[iv]—a sprawling 4,620-hectare agricultural property in Western Australia’s productive Great Southern region, listed at $45 million—to lifestyle properties under $1 million and everything in between,” said Travis.

“Among these is Lot 6 Mount Horner Road West in Yardarino, Western Australia[v], offered at $2,750,000.

Listed by Gerald Wetherall and Brian Hipper of Raine & Horne Rural WA, this expansive 1,073.2-hectare (approximately 2,651-acre) property sits in a reliable 400 mm rainfall zone and is ideal for grazing and farming. Positioned just north of Dongara and close to the Western Australian coast, South Wattle Downs is well-suited for livestock production with stunning surroundings and exceptional versatility.

Travis added, “We deeply appreciate the agricultural community’s ongoing support for our offices, and that’s why we encourage all Australians to rally behind National Agriculture Day as a heartfelt thank you to our farmers.”
