SOME HANDY TIPS ON HOW TO USE YOUR EVAPORATIVE AIR-CONDITIONER CORRECTLY

Hi Everyone,

I know our summer is almost over but, nevertheless, the weather has still been quite warm. We have had many common errors from tenants when using their evaporative air conditioner and limiting the effectiveness of the system.

To fully understand the common mistakes many of us are making, lets look into how an evaporative system works:

Since we now know that these air conditioners use water and air circulation to cool our indoor spaces, here are a few handy tips to make it function optimally:

1. Open your windows a little - evaporative air conditioners need open windows (about 5cm of air space for an effective cross breeze). As we learnt before, these air conditioners work by pulling air into the room.

2. Use it seasonally - evaporative air conditioners work best with dry heat when the humidity is 70% or less. Above 75% humidity the air conditioner looses its effectiveness and can actually cause damage as it makes the air even more damper.  You might have noticed how uncomfortable you feel on a humid day because of your sweat evaporating into the air. Similarly, high humidity levels hinder its functionality because the water cannot evaporate quickly enough. So, just turn the fan on and cool your home that way.

Thank you,
