Raine & Horne Darwin agent to take on bright lights of Dubai

Media release - 20th February, 2015

Young gun Raine & Horne Darwin sales agent Cameron McDonnell is set to take on one of the world’s most exciting real estate markets, after accepting a job placement with the Superbrand’s newest international office, Raine & Horne Dubai.

Located in the ultra-modern Oberoi Center, in the Bay Business district, the city’s principal CBD, Raine & Horne Dubai is the latest addition to the Australian Superbrand’s growing global network, which already extends to offices in the Pacific, Asia and Europe.

“This is a great opportunity for Cameron to expand his real estate career in one of the globe’s hottest property markets with one of the fastest growing real estate brands,” said Glenn Grantham, General Manager, Raine & Horne Darwin.

“It’s also an ideal move on a personal level for Cameron, as the Dubai real estate market is top heavy with out-of-town investors, which is similar to Darwin.

“Cameron has learnt the skills involved in selling to out-of-town investors and vendors he’s never met, and this experience will prove invaluable in the emirate.

“The majority of his selling in Darwin has involved using the phone and email rather than discussing strategies face to face with vendors over the kitchen table. It’s a different skill-set and Cameron is very good at it.”

Mr McDonnell’s move also demonstrates the diversity and scope of the Raine & Horne brand globally, according to Glenn Grantham.

“Cameron’s appointment shows that when you’re dealing with Raine & Horne whether you’re an investor, landlord, owner of employee, you’re linking not just with one office but 300 offices in an expanding global network,” he said.

Mr McDonnell, who has a double degree in accountancy and property valuation from University of South Australia, heard about the opportunity in Dubai via Raine & Horne’s brand new internal communications platform, Scout.

“I sent an email to Raine & Horne Dubai to find out more about the position. It snowballed from there and I accepted an offer for the available role in about a week,” said Cameron, who plans to fly to the UAE on 27 February, 2015.

The timing of Mr McDonnell’s is also perfect, with the Dubai market well and truly recovered from the Global Financial Crisis, with property enjoying double digit returns in 2013 and 2014.

“It appears that the Dubai market will continue to produce decent returns in 2015 and beyond and this is at the heart of my decision to give the city’s market a crack,” said Cameron, who will operate in residential sales, commercial leasing and off-the-plan projects.

“The move to Dubai is yet another opportunity delivered by Raine & Horne to build on my real estate experience and to use my Australian expertise to sell to Aussie expats living in Dubai.

“This is an amazing opportunity and I have to thank Glenn Grantham and Raine & Horne Darwin.”

“I’ve been trained by some of the best trainers in the business, but I’d say that the training Glenn has given me puts him at the top of the tree.

“Working in Darwin, after shifting there from Adelaide in 2012, has given me the confidence that my skills can transfer to the Dubai market.

“I see Dubai as being of the calibre of a Hong Kong, New York, London and Paris, so this posting is an excellent rite of passage for my real estate career.”
