Standing on a beach of golden sand, upon which the long rollers from the blue Pacific break in gleaming foam, a veritable feast of beauty delights the eye of the beholder.

It is a panorama of beauty which no words can adequately describe nor artist faithfully delineate. Facing the open ocean, bold Lion Island appears to be literally afloat upon an azure sea.

To the south and east, across Broken Bay are Barrenjoey, Palm Beach, Newport, Pittwater and the Hawkesbury River Entrance.

To the north, rugged Mount Ettalong, with it's almost sheer cliff some 600 feet from base to crown, adds grandeur to the scene, while beyond, across the water, lie Wagstaff Point, Lobster Beach and Box Head, this latter forming the northern headland of Broken Bay.
