- Business owners lead the owner-occupier push in Darwin
A flurry of buying activity in September augurs well for Darwin’s prestige property markets for the remainder of 2019.
“Owner-occupier demand for property was consistent across all price points in Darwin in September,” said Glenn Grantham, General Manager, Raine & Horne Darwin. “There is money coming into the market from people, including business owners shifting to Darwin from interstate.”
To illustrate, a penthouse in 312/8a Gardener Street, Darwin City went under contract in the middle of September, which was on the market for $2.1 million. The exclusive apartment is in Evolution on Gardiner, a 33 storey, internationally designed residence with spectacular water views. “This sale follows the transaction of another property priced above $2 million in the Darwin CBD. These two sales demonstrate there is money coming in from successful businesspeople in Darwin for high-end property,” Glenn added.
At the other end of the market, demand continues for entry-level homes, according to Glenn. “Darwin’s entry-level property market is always popular illustrated by demand for a three-bedroom house at 11 Gulnare Street, Millner that is on the market for offers over $410,000,” he noted. “This newly renovated house with three spacious bedrooms has attracted 28 groups, and we have multiple offers from buyers.”
