We are thrilled to announce that Ryan Mitchell, our Co-Director and Head of Property Management at Raine & Horne Kurri Kurri, has taken home Property Manager of the Year for the second time at the 2021 AREA Excellence Awards!

The AREA Excellence Awards are presented by realestate.com.au and aim to celebrate the best in the property industry. A total of 27 award categories are presented that focus on innovation, service, marketing excellence, and community.

To apply for the awards, Ryan had to submit a comprehensive application detailing his achievements and accomplishments from the 2021 calendar year, including how he differentiates himself from other property managers.

Ryan’s entry detailed his immense growth achieved despite COVID-19 lockdown including hiring of new staff, acquiring a new rent roll, achieving suburb rental records and achieving organic growth.

We couldn't be prouder of Ryan and winning the award for the second year in a row further solidifies his status as one of Australia's leading property managers. Congratulations!

Raine & Horne Media Release - 25 March

Mr Ryan Mitchell, Co-Director / Property Management & BDM of Raine & Horne Kurri Kurri has cemented his reputation as Australia’s best Property Manager after winning gold at the 2021 Annual REA Excellence Awards.

In a remarkable achievement capping a noteworthy year, Mr Mitchell grabbed the Property Manager of the Year award after winning the same gong last year.

More than 500 property professionals came together at venues across Australia to celebrate more than 40 awards winners, including Mr Mitchell.

 Massive rent roll increase

Mr Mitchell oversaw an almost 140% increase in his firm’s rent roll in 2021 said winning the prestigious award for a second year is a significant personal and office achievement.

A segment of this increase derived from acquiring a major rent roll as well as 36 new managements generated organically by the Raine & Horne Kurri Kurri team. “After a marketing campaign involving every house in Kurri, we convinced 20 landlords to switch to Raine & Horne Kurri from other property managers,” Mr Mitchell said.

“For an agency from a small country town such as Kurri, this award puts the spotlight back on us and gives us the confidence that we’re heading in the right direction,” he said.

“The growth we had within the Property Management department caught the eye of the judges, along with the expansion of the office after we rebranded to Raine & Horne in 2021.”

Suburb records and rebranding to Raine & Horne

Raine & Horne Kurri also achieved two property management suburb records in 2021. A four-bedroom house in Abermain acquired a weekly rent of $550, and another four-bedroom home in Pelaw Main also recorded a weekly rent of $550.

Mr Mitchell said that apart from the suburb records, his Property Management team were able to absorb the challenges of COVID. “We lost some managements but were able to replace them and more,” said Mr Mitchell, who personally added 11 new managements to Raine & Horne Kurri Kurri’s rent roll.

“There’s no doubt that the win shows us that the decision to rebrand with Raine & Horne was the right one for is.

“We shifted to Raine & Horne because they are the leaders in technology, software, training and the support from Corporate and its family-oriented approach to business appealed to us.”
